At Eva’s Chihuahuas, health is just as important as beauty, type, and pedigree. Our goal is to produce beautiful Chihuahuas with sound structure, sweet temperaments, and long, happy lives as beloved companions.

As part of our commitment to responsible breeding, we perform health evaluations and OFA testing on our breeding dogs whenever appropriate.

What Is OFA Testing?

OFA stands for the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. OFA health testing helps breeders screen for certain hereditary or breed-related health conditions before making breeding decisions.

Health testing does not guarantee that a puppy will never have a health issue, but it helps reduce risk and allows breeders to make more responsible choices for future generations.

Health Testing May Include

Our breeding dogs may receive health evaluations such as:

• Patella/knee examination

• Cardiac/heart examination

• CAER/eye examination

• DNA genetic testing

• General veterinary health examination

• Dentition and bite evaluation

Testing may vary depending on each dog’s age, breeding status, and veterinary recommendations.

Important Note

No breeder can guarantee perfect health for the lifetime of any living animal. However, health testing, veterinary care, careful selection, proper nutrition, and responsible breeding practices all help give puppies the strongest foundation possible.

As our dogs complete additional OFA testing, results may be listed on each dog’s individual page when available.
